Funny how the same stories keep recurring. The 'discovery'/plunder of the New World enriched the old empires of Europe in the short term, but in the long term, the result was the fading of those empires.

It's a shame that our exploration of space is being led by billionaires. But it's not surprising, given the type of creatures we are. If there is intelligent life out there and it meets Jeff Bezos first, it may feel the rest of us aren't worth bothering with at all.
