This is classic Mike Alexander. Science bending toward philosophy, only to take a sudden detour into humor. Brilliant!

When I worked in pest control, I got to know all about the problems starlings cause. But few things are more beautiful than a murmuration. When in Rome, I love to go the banks of the river at dusk to watch the birds drifting above the rooftops before settling into the trees.

It’s well worth getting shit on.
