This is absolutely true. The stereotype of Parisians being rude is so unfair. I don't find them any ruder than people in any big city. But that's probably because I say 'bonjour' and treat the city like it's theirs. Because it is.

The same goes with the language. I'm a classic English speaker, meaning I only speak English. But I don't expect everyone in the world to do the same. Try going to London or New York and speaking only French or Cantonese and see how people respond. It's not hard to learn a few phrases just to show you're making an effort.
