There isn’t a generation that ever existed that didn’t feel the same way. The much-maligned baby boomers lived under a very real threat of nuclear war. And as for the economy, it tanks every ten years. You’ll live through these events over and over again. And don’t get me started on the people who got to be young in 1939 or 1914…

I’m not trying to minimize the very real challenges the world faces right now. But this is what life is. It always was. Struggle and hardship are guaranteed.

So keep working to make a better world and find your place in it. But for your own mental health, don’t get too caught up in the doomscroll. We’ve been preaching the end of the world since the world began, and look: we’re still here.
