There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t read something, here or elsewhere, that insults me and blames me for all the world’s ills because I’m a straight white man. And to even complain about that brings accusations of privilege and all the other shit-flinging people love to do online.

You’re absolutely right that the idea of privilege has become a new race-based insult. Right, too, that this drives some people towards extremism, the exact opposite of where we should be going.
