Sometimes I think loss can become a lens that helps us see a deeper reality. So much of human life depends on us thinking things matter when they really don't. Then tragedy finds you, and all pretense is stripped away. It's the Sublime, in its way. Bleak and barren, maybe, but still an encounter with ultimate reality.
