I was one of the lucky recipients of the recent $500 bonus Medium handed out. What it showed me was a purer crystallization of what I already knew: I really don't care about the money. It didn't motivate me at all. What motivates me is working on the craft and writing something that I think is good - no matter what everyone else thinks of it.
