North American real estate is out of control. We all know it's high, but I think Canadians and Americans who haven't traveled don't realize just how outrageous it is.
I had an ocean view in Italy, and in France. Not exactly poor countries, but way more affordable than this.
I'm actually working on an article right now about how everyone in Canada must be rich. Not me. Not anyone I know personally. But everybody else. Because the average house in Vancouver requires a household income of over $200,000 and an almost $300k downpayment. And that most definitely doesn't get you near the water.
That's why I'm thinking of leaving Canada. If I ever want to own a house, I'm going to have to do it somewhere else.
