Like most people, I've stepped back from Medium for a while. I actually had a decent January, unlike virtually everyone else. But not knowing what's happening doesn't make me want to write more.

I'm not going anywhere though. I wrote on Medium for four years for virtual pennies until 2024. It was never about the money. It IS about being seen, partly. But even that's not the main thing. The point of writing is to write, just as the point of life is to live. Just that simple. Just that profound. And if I were stuck alone on a desert island, I'd be scrawling words on the shells of sea turtles and watching the ink dissolve as they crawled back into the sea.

Thanks for the mention, and thanks for all your work as an editor and pub owner. I can only imagine how hard it is to keep that going through the current uncertainty.
