Kayaking works well for me too. Repetitive motions requiring just enough focus to occupy the practical part of your brain so it can't keep pulling on the imagination's leash. Plus, I mostly kayak on the sea, which is never without a faint element of fear. That means you HAVE to keep your brain occupied with thoughts of anything except what might be lurking below...
