In this respect, I often think that fiction is more true than reality. In real life, things often don’t line up quite right. Edges are fuzzy. Meaning is absent. Fiction is reality with the boring or confusing or useless bits cut out.

And given that we all live inside the mental construct we make of the world, it’s all fiction anyway. The world is a story we tell ourselves. I’ve learned far more from fiction than I probably ever will from non-fiction.
