I’m not sure how much cheaper travel could get. Air fares haven’t gone up in about twenty years. Airlines operated pretty close to the bone already, and we’ll see how many survive once the pandemic is over. As for hotels and other accommodations; hotwire and Airbnb and other apps have made it possible to find bargains just about anywhere. Back when I was traveling a year or two ago, it was actually cheaper than staying home.

But to your point on privelege: I did the nomad thing and worked while I traveled. But I never would have taken the plunge if I didn’t stumble into a big chunk of cash first. I love to write about travel, and I hope to inspire people when I do. But I’m well aware that for many, it will never be an option.
