I love the link you make between Diogenes and Bitcoin. The idea of a Cynical currency is fascinating.

Still, I don't see Bitcoin working as a real currency. Not because it's based on nothing, but because it's a nightmare to deal with. For one, it's so wildly deflationary that you can never feel comfortable spending it. For another, the network is painfully slow and expensive to use - though admittedly, that may not always be the case.

I used to mine Bitcoin for a while back when you could do that at home. While I did OK out of it, I don't trust it at all. When you have a company like Bitmain with so much control over the market, it's hard not to smell a rat.
