I can only sympathize, because I haven't had that experience myself. But I hear you.

There were times in my life - really, my first 20 years - when life absolutely did not feel like a gift. And if it had been, I would have gladly sent it back.

If nothing else, books like this help to increase the empathy of someone like me who is lucky enough not to have to deal with chronic illness.
