I also find that charging a high rate deters a lot of the clients you wouldn't want anyway.
There's an inverse relationship between how much trouble a client is and how much they pay. I've had cheapskate clients who needed constant handholding, and clients who paid well over the normal rate who pretty much let me do my thing. I usually find that the more a client pays, the less they want to micromanage.
Strange but true.
