Great advice. Graham Greene used to write 1000 words a day, every day, and stop in mid-sentence if he hit that target. I tried that for a while, and I found that it keeps your subconscious constantly thinking about and working on the story even while you do other things.

I don't do that currently. I'm just coming to the end of a long project that didn't need to take the decade it did, because I was undisciplined. But if I write another novel, I think I'll approach it like this.
