As much as I love Italy, Florence always felt a little bit…off… to me. It’s beautiful, yes. But there seemed to be a kind of gleaming unreality to the place. All of Italy’s cities are mercilessly touristed, but Florence seemed to have suffered more from it than the likes of Rome or Naples or even Venice.

But maybe I just wasn’t looking closely enough. Chasing traces of Dante through space and time could be the perfect way to give Florence another chance!
